After discharge from the hospital it is recommended that your Newborn be seen in the office within 3 to 5 days after birth. Times may vary depending on the length of your baby's hospital stay. At this visit your pediatrician will take a detailed history about your pregnancy, labor, birth of your baby and your infants hospital stay.
Your new born will then receive a thorough physical exam and important information such as length, weight, and head circumference will be documented. Your infant's feeding and sleeping schedule, development and vaccine schedule are just some of the many topics that will be discussed at this visit and more to follow. This is the time for parents to ask any questions they may have and discuss concerns about caring for their newborn. It is important to bring in any hospital records that you have on your newborn to this visit.
